Safety Rules For Scooters

Now, for (my) safety rules for riding high speed gas powered scooters:

• Responsible riders do not duck in and out of traffic. Or at least try not to. At least when there are police cars around the place.

• Friends don't let friends ride scooters when drunk. Unless you know they can handle the scoot. And, sheesh, that's not asking too much, right?

• Responsible riders do not ride at fast speeds on the sidewalk. Unless of course the sidewalk is so tempting that you just must do it.

• Friends don't let inexperienced friends ride souped-up scooters. That's right, you shouldn't. Not at all. I can't bend. Oh no, what... Ok, maybe just this once.

• Responsible riders recognize that pedestrians always have the right-of-way. They do, too. So don't, and I say this again, don't, run them over with your gas powered scooter, Ok.

• Responsible parents insure that their children wear proper safety gear when riding scooters. And they lead by example. Yeah, pad up, wear protective stuff, and all that. Except on real hot days when it wouldn't be cool.

Hey Y'all, just kidding...
